2026Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Monday said he enjoys the backing of the people ahead of the August 15 governorship election, and urged voters to come out without fear.Adeleke spoke in Osogbo after an interactive session with civil servants and pensioners at an event taggedA Day With Mr. Governor’_, organized by the Office of the Head of Service in partnership with labour leaders and pensioners.
The governor, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party, said he was not under any pressure as the election approaches. He, however, expressed concerns about police neutrality.“I am not under pressure because I have God on my side and the people of Osun on my side. We are fully prepared. I want you to tell them not to be afraid.
This is democracy. They should not be intimidated by the APC,” Adeleke said.He urged residents to turn out in large numbers on Saturday, August 15. “Democracy and God’s will prevail. Come out en masse to vote and perform your civic duty. Your votes will count,” he added. On security, Adeleke said the National Peace Committee has assured him of engagement with security agencies following concerns raised during the signing of the Peace Accord.
“I don’t trust the police at the moment, but the Peace Committee said they are talking to them and will work on it. I pray God touches their hearts,” he stated.Speaking in Yoruba, Adeleke’s aide, *Arapasopo*, warned against a return to what he described as the “dark days” of APC rule.
“We must not go back. Enough of intimidation. God gave them the chance to govern Osun.“Before now, some pensioners were getting N300, N1,500, N3,000. Today they are getting N25,000, N10,000 and better allowances.“Workers of Osun, this is election time. Those causing problems for Governor Adeleke will disappear like a fart.
We may have no one, but we have God Almighty. We are the anointed. Let us pray that Adeleke’s enemies meet their Waterloo,” he said.14 candidates will contest the Osun governorship poll on August 15, with Adeleke as the incumbent.
