Residents and commuters in Ado-Ekiti are calling on authorities to urgently evacuate a lifeless body found along the Fajuyi Flyover, saying the decomposing corpse has left the area with an offensive odour and serious health concerns.
The body, which was discovered earlier by the roadside, is said to be in an advanced state of decomposition. Pedestrians, traders, and motorists who ply the busy flyover now cover their noses, while some have resorted to using alternative routes to avoid the scene. “We are appealing to government and relevant agencies to come and evacuate the body.
This place is a major gateway into Ado-Ekiti and people, including children, pass here every day.”Another resident lamented that the situation has become a public health risk. “We don’t know who the person is, but leaving the corpse like this is not good. Flies are everywhere and the stench spreads across the road. We are begging NEMA, police, and the state emergency management agency to act fast before it causes sickness,” he said.
As of press time, the body was still at the location, with no security or health officials on ground to cordon off the area or begin evacuation procedures.Community leaders in the area have also raised concerns, urging the Ekiti State Government and security agencies to treat the matter as a matter of urgency.
They noted that Fajuyi Flyover is one of the busiest points in the state capital and leaving a corpse unattended for long poses both environmental and psychological risks.
