ADELEKE CALLS FOR ARREST OF SENATOR FADAHUNSI OVER ALLEGED KILL-THREAT VIDEO

_August 11, 2026 | 6:20 pm_

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called for the immediate arrest and investigation of Senator Francis Fadahunsi over a viral video in which the lawmaker was allegedly heard inciting violence against Accord Party members ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Monday, Adeleke said he had reported the matter to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and demanded action. He said the IGP confirmed receiving the video and assured him of immediate steps.

_“The second issue concerns a viral video of a serving Senator, Francis Fadahunsi, who was heard calling for the killing of Accord Party leaders, supporters and their families. In the video, the Senator even said that where they cannot get the leaders, they should kill their wives and children,”_ Adeleke said.

_“This is beyond politics. It is a national security threat that requires the attention of Mr. President through the Office of the National Security Adviser,”_ he added.

The governor also urged the police and DSS to arrest Fadahunsi over what he described as _“incitement to genocide against the people of Ijesaland and Osun State.”_

The video was shared online by Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who provided an English translation of the Yoruba remarks.

According to the translation shared by Davido, the senator allegedly said: _“From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too.”_

*Fadahunsi Denies, Alleges Manipulation*
However, Senator Fadahunsi, in a statement signed by him, denied the claim, saying the video was _“edited and manipulated to distort what I actually said.”_

_“My attention has been drawn to an edited video being circulated by Davido on TikTok and Pelumi Olajengbesi on other platforms. The video was deliberately edited to distort my remarks,”_ he said.

The senator explained that his comments were a reaction to alleged attacks on APC members in Ilesa and other areas.
_“What I said was that if the killing of our party members by Accord Party thugs does not stop, our party will retaliate. I was referring to continued violence against our members,”_ he stated.

_“I made it clear that if our members are killed again, we will not fold our arms. We will defend our people, even if it happens on election day,”_ he added.

Fadahunsi accused the state government of failing to condemn alleged attacks on APC members, claiming over 12 APC members had been killed. He urged residents of Ijesaland to reject violence and vote peacefully on Saturday.

*Alleged Police Crackdown*
Meanwhile, Adeleke alleged that a police signal had been issued directing the arrest of Accord Party leaders across Osun, with instructions to detain them in Abuja until after the election.

He described such a move, if true, as an attempt to use the police to influence the election outcome.

The governor also condemned what he called _“illegal operations”_ by the Intelligence Response Team, alleging that its operatives were arresting Accord leaders in LGAs without justification.

_“We demand that the IGP enforce due process and fair policing by aborting all anti-people plots against democracy in Osun. Security agencies must act in line with the rule of law before, during and after this election,”_ Adeleke said.
