OSUN POLL: SENATOR FADAHUNSI UNDER FIRE OVER ALLEGED REMARKS AT POLLING UNIT

August 15, 2026

Senator Francis Fadahunsi is facing fresh criticism over comments he allegedly made to supporters at his polling unit during Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

A video said to have been recorded at the polling location showed the senator addressing his supporters and urging them to watch over their votes, before making further comments about voting.

The remarks have drawn condemnation from the Imole Campaign Council, which accused Fadahunsi of trying to influence voters during the election. In a statement, the council’s spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, described the comments as _“unacceptable and undemocratic”_ and called on security agencies to investigate the matter.

The controversy also attracted the attention of Amnesty International Nigeria, which demanded an investigation and accountability over the alleged inciting remarks. With voting ongoing across the state, the incident has further put the senator under scrutiny amid heightened political tension surrounding the governorship poll.

However, the interpretation of Fadahunsi’s remarks and the allegations by the Imole Campaign Council could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
