Ogogo’s Cancer: Doctor Explain a Why Hospital Moved Him  To Palliative Care

A doctor, Olusina Ajidahun, has addressed claims by the daughters of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, aka Ogogo, that hospitals refused to continue treating their father, who has stage-four cancer.

In a post on X, Dr. Ajidahun, known as “The Bearded Dr. Sina”, said the family’s statement could be misunderstood.

He explained that when chemotherapy and other treatments for stage-four cancer are no longer effective, patients are often moved to palliative care. This focuses on managing pain and improving quality of life, not curing the disease.

“‘They don’t want to treat my father again’ is a dangerous statement,” he wrote. “It can make it look like doctors are abandoning the patient and could create hostility toward healthcare workers.”

Dr. Ajidahun also warned against using unverified herbal remedies for stage-four cancer, saying they could cause more organ damage and complications.

He noted that he is not part of Ogogo’s medical team and was only speaking generally. He urged the family to work closely with the actor’s doctors and sent them his sympathies.

The clarification comes after Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira, posted emotional videos on Instagram on Monday. They said their father’s condition had worsened and appealed for any hospital or doctor willing to continue his treatment, including chemotherapy. They stressed they were not asking for money, only medical help.

Ogogo, 66, is a veteran Yoruba actor with a career spanning over 40 years and 300+ films.
