Chartered Librarian and Public Affairs Analyst, Elder Ayo Arogundade CLN has appealed to the Government of Ekiti State to urgently review upward the subvention to the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, BOUESTI, to enable the institution meet its financial obligations.
In a statement made available to the press, Elder Arogundade noted that inadequate funding has continued to put pressure on BOUESTI’s capacity to meeting it’s financial obligations to Pensioners
“An upward review of the subvention to BOUESTI is not a luxury but a necessity. The university must be adequately funded to meet Pensioners and staff welfare, infrastructure needs, and academic obligations without avoidable disruptions,” he said.
The public affairs analyst also made a passionate appeal to the the Institution and relevant authorities to, as a matter of urgency pay pensioners their full entitlements.
He described the payment of half pension as “unacceptable and demoralizing,” and called for the immediate release of the full pension for the month of July 2026.
“Pensioners served this Institution meritoriously. The payment of half pension is not a welcome development and should not happen. Iam appealing that full payment for July 2026 be made immediately, and that fractional or amputated payments should not occur again,” Elder Arogundade stated.
He further urged University and the government to prioritize the liquidation of outstanding pension liabilities, including gratuity.
Elder Arogundade also called for an upward review of the present pension rate to reflect current economic realities.
“It is my hope that the present pension will be reviewed upward. This will bring relief to our senior citizens and restore dignity to retirement in the University.he added.
