Osun 2026: Massive Voter Turnout as Polls Remain Peaceful Across Ede, Osogbo

OSUN STATE — Voters have turned out in large numbers across several polling units in Osun State as the 2026 governorship election continues, with the electoral process generally calm and peaceful in areas visited by the Mature Minds Digital Radio TV crew.

The media organisation, which has been monitoring the election on the ground, observed a significant increase in voter turnout compared with previous elections, a development confirmed by some of the voters who spoke with the crew. Many voters were seen arriving at polling units in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no visible indication of vote buying in the polling areas visited by the crew.

However, some voters expressed concern over the slow pace of the voting process, attributing the delay largely to the limited number of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices available at some polling units.

Some voters called for the deployment of additional BVAS devices to speed up the process, noting that the number of voters at some polling units appeared to have increased significantly compared with previous elections.

Despite the concerns over the pace of voting, the exercise has remained largely orderly, with no major disruption observed in the areas visited.

There have also been no major complaints from party agents recorded by the Mature Minds Digital Radio TV crew.

At Ido-Osun, some concerns were initially raised by party agents regarding the voting process. However, the situation was subsequently resolved after an individual was repeatedly allowed to assist elderly voters during the voting process.

Security personnel were also visibly present across the polling locations visited, moving around the areas and monitoring the exercise. Their presence has contributed to the generally peaceful atmosphere, with no immediate cause for alarm reported at the locations covered.

Areas Covered

As of the time of filing this report, the Mature Minds Digital Radio TV crew had monitored polling activities across units in Ede North Local Government Area, as well as parts of Osogbo, including Ido-Osun, Okefia, Olude, Igbona, Alaafia, Agowande and Agunba Elewo.

The election continues across the state as voters await the completion of the voting process.

Mature Minds Digital Radio TV remains on the ground monitoring developments and will continue to provide firsthand reports from polling locations across Osun State.
