The Progressives e-Group, a prominent online media group in Osun State, has strongly condemned the reported brutal attack on staff and other victims at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, September 14, 2026, reportedly saw a hospital staff member, Mr. Abiodun Collins, allegedly assaulted by hoodlums while receiving a phone call during his official duty.According to eyewitness accounts, Collins was beaten severely, while his mobile phone was reportedly seized and vandalised during the attack.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Farinloye, and a middle-aged woman were also reportedly attacked. The woman, who was said to have been making a phone call while passing through the area, was allegedly beaten by the hoodlums.

Reacting to the incident, the Progressives e-Group described the attack as “barbaric and totally unacceptable,” stressing that violence against healthcare workers and innocent members of the public must not be tolerated.
The group also expressed concern over the alleged growing trend of attacks on hospital workers following the death of patients, urging aggrieved individuals to seek lawful means of addressing their grievances rather than resorting to violence.
The Progressives e-Group called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Osun State Government and relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation, identify and arrest those responsible, and ensure that they face the full weight of the law.The group further urged the government to strengthen security around public hospitals across the state to prevent similar incidents in the future.“Violence has no place in our democracy. Justice must prevail,” the group said.
