By Comrade Idowu Afuye
It is indeed shocking, laughable and highly disappointing that after all manner of unprintable things, condemnations, insults and destructive criticisms that Dr. Oluwole Oluyede had said against Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in Ekiti State, the same man could still have the effrontery to show his face at BAO’s inauguration, dining and wining with the same system he once condemned. This singular act has once again confirmed the true character of Dr. Oluwole Oluyede as a desperate, inconsistent and unprincipled politician who lacks ideological conviction.
A MAN WHO CONDEMNED EVERYON
It is on record that Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, in his desperate quest for political relevance, has at one time or the other condemned all past Governors in Ekiti State. He condemned former Governor Fayose, he condemned former Governor Fayemi, and he did not spare Governor BAO and the APC government which he described in very harsh and demeaning language. He painted the APC government as a failure, he described the leadership of BAO as directionless, and he told the whole world that Ekiti was not working under APC. He positioned himself as the only saint, the only alternative, the only messiah that can rescue Ekiti.
TODAY, THE SAME SYSTEM HE CONDEMNED IS NOW HIS DINING TABLE
What a contradiction! What a shame! Today, the same Dr. Oluwole Oluyede who condemned BAO and APC is the one sitting comfortably, smiling, dining and wining with the same BAO and the same APC government he once abused before the public. If the APC government was as bad as he claimed, why is he now struggling to associate with it? If BAO was a failure as he alleged, why is he now celebrating his inauguration? This is nothing but political desperation, eye-service and stomach infrastructure politics.
EKITI PEOPLE SHOULD NOT TRUST HIM
I, Comrade Idowu Afuye, want to use this medium to call on all well-meaning Ekiti people, both at home and in the diaspora, not to trust Dr. Oluwole Oluyede for anything. Any politician who can condemn a system today and dine with the same system tomorrow is dangerous and cannot be trusted with leadership.
Ekiti needs principled, consistent and sincere leaders, not political prostitutes who jump from one ideology to another because of personal interest. Ekiti needs men and women of honour, not desperate politicians who will say anything to remain relevant.Dr. Oluwole Oluyede has by this singular act of attending BAO’s inauguration after all his condemnations, shown that he is not driven by conviction but by desperation and personal ambition.
Ekiti people should shine their eyes. We cannot entrust the future of our dear state into the hands of a man who speaks from both sides of his mouth.*Comrade Idowu Afuye writes from Ode-Ekiti, Aiyekire Local Government, Ekiti State.*
