The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Sunday received a group of defectors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a post on his official X account, the former Kano governor said he was pleased with the development.
“I was delighted to welcome defectors from Madobi LGA who have left the APC to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
I warmly received them into our party and assured them of fair treatment and meaningful roles.
“Our movement continues to grow stronger without major distractions,” he wrote.
Photos from the event showed Kwankwaso in white traditional attire and his trademark red-and-white cap. He was accompanied by the NDC’s Kano Central senatorial candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as he addressed a large crowd from a raised platform with a microphone in hand.
Other pictures showed thousands of supporters, many wearing the red caps linked to the Kwankwasiyya movement, cheering and waving their hands in support.
The reception highlights the NDC’s push to strengthen its presence in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections.
