The personal assistant to late gospel singer, Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, Babadunni Gbolabo, has said the musician was taken to between seven and eight hospitals after he suddenly slumped, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.Gbolabo disclosed this while recounting the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He said the gospel musician had shown no signs of illness before he suddenly slumped, prompting those around him to attempt to revive him before rushing him to hospitals.“He was very fine and sound in health. He was in perfect condition. He just suddenly slumped. We all tried our best to revive him, but it was not successful,” he said.
According to Gbolabo, efforts to secure medical attention for the singer were frustrated by the unavailability of doctors in some hospitals.“We took him to hospitals, and some of them said doctors were on strike. Some doctors were not on duty.
There was nobody to attend to him.“In some hospitals, he was rejected. He was not admitted. We tried our best, even with prayers. We visited up to seven to eight hospitals,” he said. The family confirmed the singer’s death in a statement posted on his verified Instagram page on Wednesday night, saying he died in the early hours of October 14, 2026.
The statement read, “With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of MINISTER OLAYEMI BAYONILE BOLAJI, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026.”The family described him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister, adding that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
Toluwanisings reportedly complained of tiredness after ministering at In His Presence, a monthly worship programme hosted by gospel singer Bidemi Olaoba in Ibadan on Tuesday night. His death comes months after he was involved in a road accident with members of his band while returning from a ministration.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and fans, including lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi and comedian Woli Agba, who had earlier called for prayers for the singer.
