Ekiti Govt’: Develop Your Land or Lose It.

The Ekiti State Government has issued a final warning to allottees who have abandoned their plots in government residential estates, directing them to commence development on or before August 30, 2026 or risk losing their allocations.

Prof. James Olaleye, Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Surveys and Geographic Information System, gave the directive in a statement released in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.According to Olaleye, several allottees in estates across Ado Ekiti, Ikere Ekiti, Ikole Ekiti, Ijero Ekiti and Omuo Ekiti have exceeded the approved development period.

He said many of the plots have been left undeveloped and overgrown, creating an environment that attracts criminal activities.“Some allottees in the estates have exceeded the approved period for developing their allocated plots, leaving many sites abandoned, undeveloped and overgrown,” the statement read.

“This has created a conducive environment for criminal elements to carry out unlawful activities, posing security concerns for both residents and the government.

”Olaleye warned that failure to comply with the directive would lead to revocation of allocations and forfeiture of title to the government in line with the state’s land administration policy.

The Special Adviser also cautioned individuals encroaching on the proposed site for the new stadium along *Iworoko Road, Ado Ekiti* to stop immediately. He noted that the government has already taken inventory of existing structures on the land.

“Government hereby warns that anyone who proceeds to erect new structures will forfeit such investments,” he added.
