About 8 Nigerian soldiers were killed on Monday after their convoy hit a bomb in Borno State.
According to military sources, troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade were returning to their base in Dikwa from *Maiduguri after escorting food and military supplies when the incident occurred.
The explosion happened when the lead vehicle, a gun truck carrying soldiers, ran over an Improvised Explosive Device.
The blast destroyed the vehicle and killed all soldiers on board instantly.
As of the time of this report, the names and ranks of the deceased had not been released by military authorities.
The attack is the latest in a series of targeted strikes against military convoys in Borno.
In June, 3 soldiers died and others were injured after a vehicle hit an IED on the Marte–Dikwa road.
In April 2025, terrorists ambushed a convoy in Dikwa, killing at least 4 soldiers and setting 2 trucks ablaze.
Insurgents have continued to plant roadside explosives along routes used to move troops, food, fuel and other logistics.
