The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council has raised concerns over documents that allegedly named President Bola Tinubu and other top officials as board members of the council.Committee Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, disclosed this on Thursday during a hearing with FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, over the issuance of 7 official vehicle number plates to the PFIPC.
According to Gagdi, the purported PFIPC governing board listed Tinubu; SGF George Akume; FCT Minister Nyesom Wike; Head of Service; CBN Governor; AGF; and ministers of finance, aviation, agriculture, interior, budget, marine and blue economy, police affairs, transport, works and power. He said the FRSC should have questioned such a document and verified the council’s status with the Presidency before approving the plates.
“We are trying to expose the leakages so that agencies can close these gaps. It is not to indict anybody,” Gagdi said.Mohammed defended the FRSC, saying it followed due process. He said the application was received on April 4, 2025 and a reminder on April 11, both signed by Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi.
He added that the FRSC checked the PFIPC website on a .gov.ng domain, visited its office at the Federal Secretariat, and verified vehicle chassis numbers before approval. The Corps Marshal said the agency was later shocked to discover PFIPC was not an authorised government agency.
He said all issued plates are being retrieved and verification processes have been tightened. The hearing comes after the ICPC recommended Adeniyi’s prosecution.
Adeniyi had claimed his appointment letter came from Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, who denied it.ICPC cleared the Presidency and CBN but cited lapses in the SGF’s office, Head of Service, OAGF, Budget Office and NITDA.
