Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has fired back at Afrobeats star Davido over comments on the Osun governorship election, saying the singer should get ready to sign his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as a dancer after the poll.Davido had on Wednesday called on an unnamed Imo politician to allow a free and fair election in Osun on August 15, citing rumours of planned interference.
Though he did not mention names, the appeal was widely linked to Uzodimma.Reacting through his aide Ambrose Nwaogwugwu on Thursday, Uzodimma said Davido should address voters instead of him.He predicted defeat for Adeleke, claiming Osun residents had lost confidence in his administration.
“The reality is that Governor Ademola Adeleke has failed woefully. Many Osun voters are determined to vote him out on August 15,” the statement said.Uzodimma added: “Rather than emotional appeals, Davido should help his uncle prepare for life after office.
Perhaps he should also begin plans to sign his uncle as a dancer in his band, because by the mood of the electorate, he may be out of a political job after August 15.”
