Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has arrived in Osogbo, Osun State, with a team of political allies to drum up support for African Democratic Congress governorship candidate, Dr. Najeem Salaam.
Atiku announced his arrival in a post on X on Monday, stating that he was in the state capital for the ADC’s grand finale rally ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
“I have arrived in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, alongside a delegation of political associates, to stand with our governorship candidate, Dr Najeem Folasayo Salaam, Iwaloye, and our great party, the African Democratic Congress, at the grand finale of our campaign,” he wrote.
According to Atiku, the delegation was in Osun to make a final push for votes.
“We are here to rally support for our candidate and make a final appeal to the people of Osun State to entrust the ADC with the responsibility of delivering purposeful leadership, good governance and a better future for all,” he said.
The August 15 governorship election will see incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party seeking re-election against APC’s Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and ADC’s Najeem Salaam, among others.
Political activities have intensified across the state as the poll approaches. INEC says it is ready for the election, while security agencies have also increased deployments to ensure a peaceful process.
